Beginner's Guide to Ghost Driver

A good first session is controls, camera choice, one-lane practice, clean near-miss runs, then careful spending. Ghost Driver rewards consistency more than an early top-speed purchase.

Step-by-step

  1. Learn the official PC controls: W/A/S/D or arrows drive, V changes camera, Shift uses the handbrake or drift, and L toggles headlights.
  2. Press V on the same road section and keep the camera that shows the next traffic decision earliest.
  3. Practice holding one lane, making one controlled lane change, and returning without touching traffic.
  4. Watch two or three vehicles ahead. Small steering inputs and braking distance matter more than maximum speed during the first hour.
  5. Build clean near-miss and overtake combos. Community guides report that longer clean runs pay more Cash, while a crash ends the streak.
  6. Open Shop, then Rewards or Codes, and redeem the currently reported codes before spending Cash.
  7. Stack daily and weekly quest objectives with normal driving instead of grinding one task in isolation.
  8. Treat community-reported free-car and level-gate requirements as build-specific: recheck the dealership, quest panel, and tuning shop after updates.

Evidence and limitations

01

Official controls (triple-verified): W/A/S/D or Arrow Keys = Drive; V = Change Camera / First Person; Shift = Handbrake / Drift; L = Headlights

02

First-session progression: controls → camera → traffic reading → repeatable clean runs

03

Steering: Small inputs at high speed; large correction can send car across multiple lanes

04

Practice loop: Hold one lane → single controlled lane change → return without touching traffic; repeat until automatic

05

Braking distance more important than theoretical top speed during first hour

06

Camera choice: Press V and compare views on same road section; pick view that "lets you see the next decision soonest"

07

Handbrake timing: Add Shift handbrake "only after normal steering feels predictable"

08

Traffic-reading habit: Read two decisions ahead (watch 2–3 vehicles ahead, not just nearest gap)

09

Cash/combo system: "Clean near-misses and overtakes build a combo. Longer, faster combos pay more Cash. A crash ends the streak."

10

Free starter car checklist: Play ~30 minutes + like experience + favorite experience + join Tilted Vehicles group → claim at free-car marker near race spot by dealership
